Mending Tears

Everyone I know has a stash of favorite garments that have a little hole or torn seam with the intentions of fixing them someday, but often that someday gets pushed aside so frequently that the stash is forgotten. Repairing rips, tears and holes is one of the first sewing procedures I mastered after watching my Grandma repair Farmer Grandpa's worn and torn clothes on a regular basis. I nick-named it the "Farmer Stitch" and it has saved countless pairs of work pants for all the men in my life. Throughout the years, the Farmer Stitch has evolved into a more decorative applique when working on casual and dressy garments. It takes only a few minutes for me to complete and you will be glad you resurrected those favorite jeans with the little tear.
