ALTERATIONS & REPAIRS

There are several ways to achieve the desired effect of an alteration. There are the “correct” ways of altering and “quicker” ways, which still look professional on the outside, but with a few shortcuts inside. Depending on your value of the garment, I can make it perfect or just do a quick fix.

Alterations are based on a first come first serve basis. Turnaround time for basic alterations is generally 3-7 days. A rush fee may be charged for immediate needs.

A consultation and fitting will be our first meeting. You will receive a call or text as soon as your alteration is finished and ready for pickup. It is always recommended to try on the altered garment at pickup, but if you are unhappy with an alteration, please inform me within 7 days of picking up. If it is an error on my side, I will fix the problem for no additional charge.

See the standard alteration pricing for approximate costs but, every garment is made differently, so pricing is very dependent on the individual garment and processes required.

COSTUMES & EMBELLISHMENT

Halloween, Festivals and Theme Parties make up a large portion of my work. Taking a basic foundation garment and turning it into basically anything you can imagine, is both entertaining and inspirational. This is where your creative ideas come to life, from basic to exotic embellishment, available for any budget.

Embellished garments will start with a free design consultation to absorb all the details of your vision. A sketch, estimate and worksheet will be assembled for your approval. Half the total estimate is required to source materials and begin construction. Turnaround time is approximately 7-14 days and a final payment due at pickup.

CUSTOM DESIGN & PATTERN MAKING

Custom design is an intricate process that starts with your idea and transforms into a paper pattern, then a sample of similar scrap fabric is sewn before the final garment is made, with a few fittings along the way for additional adjustments to create the perfect fit. Once a pattern is made, it will remain on file for future use. I can also duplicate a favorite garment. The pattern making cost for duplication is similar to a custom design or half the price if I am able to deconstruct the original.

Custom designs can vary widely, but in general, is based on $55/hour. On average, it can take 2-8 hours of pattern making, 2-5 hours putting together a sample and 4-10 hours cutting and sewing.

SEWING LESSONS

I have come to realize that the old skills of fabric arts have faded over the generations, as it has become unnecessary with today’s technology and less feasible in our busy work schedules, but learning to sew is so very rewarding! It satisfies creative expression, gives one a sense of accomplishment, and bestows or renews a skill in self-sufficiency.

My place or yours. One time help, weekly lessons, or if you have something else in mind, I'm willing to hear your ideas, so book your time today, for this unique opportunity!
